Les 50 meilleurs petits déjeuners et brunchs dans Chula Vista (2024)

Morning Glory is a trendy eatery in downtown San Diego that offers a global breakfast and brunch experience with a stylish ambiance. The restaurant's interior features Instagram-worthy elements such as rose-gold accents, tiled floors, pink booths, and unique wallpaper designs. It's a popular spot, especially on Saturday mornings, so be prepared for a wait. The menu boasts an array of pancake options, including classic and Japanese-style souffle pancakes with whipped cream.

Least favorite part: the wait.. but it was worth it. It seems we tried a little of everything. Cortado and lattes were great starters. We also tried the strawberry and cream hot chocolate, which was a little sweet but yummy. The favorite at the table was the souffle... It's totally worth the wait!!! So yummy!! Waffle and chicken was good but not a wow. German pancakes was pretty great, too! It didn't seem like you could go wrong with much. And to top it off, our server was awesome! Wish I remembered her name (from Hawaii).

Wow! Simply fabulous. The atmosphere and decor is amazing….. and this is gonna sound weird but don’t skip the bathroom here. One of the most beautiful bathrooms I’ve ever been in. And the heated toilet seat, oh baby that’s nice. The food was amazing. I had the steak and eggs and it was cooked to perfection. The sourdough toast was crispy and had a great flavor. The wait was long, but well worth it. If you’re visiting San Diego, and you have a chance to stop here, do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Aesthetics are good but food and service are both not worth it.Waited in line for 30 minutes to get our name down and they said the wait time would be 2 and 1/2 hours And we would have 10 minutes to get back once They text us that the table is available . Decided to use that time to get some other stuff done. And We got a text within an hour and a half. I replied that we would be needing an extra 10 minutes and we're on the way. Literally ran to get our car and then to the restaurant after finding parking but they did not let us in. Told us I was at the top of the wait list and it should be around 10 to 15 minutes. 20 minutes passed and there was no notice. I went and asked again and they said it would take maybe another 20 minutes because they don't know when the table will be available. And all the tables were occupied but we would get the first one that got open. I kept following up again and again and waiting right there and we finally ended up getting a table after maybe 35 minutes.Servers were very cut and to the point. No excitement or proper service.I asked for some extra greens or plain spinach on the side with my scrambled eggs (used egg whites instead) And they said they don't allow for any of these sorts of additions. Portion size on the scrambled egg whites was also very small. I don't think it was worth that cost.Souffle pancake - fluffy but extremely too sweet. They asked if we would want some berries and cream with it as if it came with , but they charged an extra $5 for this! What verses that those strawberries were actually sour and not even good.Fried chicken and waffle - Waffle was light and fluffy, but the chicken was so oily!Pork belly fried rice - everyone seemed to be getting it so we got one. Probably the only dish on the table that was most worth it. Pork belly on its own was flavorful as well, but there wasn't as much more belly in that as we were expect. Pork belly on its own was flavorful as well, but there wasn't as much pork belly in that as we were expect.Lox Benedict was good. Dad actually finished the entire order. Only downside is that the salad it came with had way too much dressing on it.I think I would wait in line for this place again. It's good to come and take some pictures but The food is not worth the wait.

Morning Glory is a whole vibe! It's a great option for chic surroundings, good food and great food presentation, city views, and upbeat music. The food was good but in my opinion not great. The food was fresh and made to order. There is an elevator if you can't walk the stairs. It's pretty tight up there though so I don't know about wheelchair accessibility. I don't regret the visit. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the servers were very attentive so I believe that it's a nice option for dining or grabbing a drink or two in Little Italy San Diego. The Farmers Market was there today so it was pretty busy. Great for people watching if you are into that kind of thing.

It was my first time visiting this place and it was awesome. The venue is an experience itself. Good music, awesome atmosphere, great cocktails, and good food. I’d recommend going early or making a reservation if possible, as I was there on a Monday morning and it was very busy. Overall it was a great experience and a cool spot. Well worth checking out even if your just hanging out at the bar.

Morning Glory is a breakfast/brunch restaurant that has been designated a Bib Gourmand by Michelin. That means that the restaurant has "good quality, good value cooking." Waits can be long, 1-2hrs if you don't get there early. By early, I would say get there before 10AM, but even better if earlier. Note that the restaurant is upstairs since there is also a restaurant downstairs and you might not be in the correct line. Everything about the restaurant is very hip and chic. Importantly, the food is delicious. They even have "dim sum" like food carts. Some places don't live up to the hype, but Morning Glory is definitely worth the wait.

Worth the wait!!Food- Amazing taste. High competition with Breakfast company mission bay. Ordered Frenchie French toast, Turkish eggs and Coffee. Perfectly done. No next thoughtService- have to wait and tired servers. Rest all good. May be they can be more welcoming and smiling. Needs improvement in serviceAtmosphere- you should experience. Classy fancy

This was our first time and we absolutely loved the food! It was definitely a wait to be seated but it was worth it. The atmosphere wasn't really our thing, we went with our kids. I think it's definitely a fun vibe if we were young and kid free or even just a fun date place. Prices are a bit steep but we expect that anytime we visit Cali. Overall I'm still giving this location 5 stars for its uniqueness and delicious food! We would be happy to come back again!

Great place for breakfast.A must, if you are visiting San Diego and especially if staying in the little Italy area. There was a small wait line witch starts at the bottom of stairs leading up to restaurant about 10 min for us. Then gave our name , took our phone number and in around 20 min they called us. The sat us at the bar for faster sit down . But the wait is worth it. The food is excellent. I ordered eggs Benedict and the wife ordered souffle with berry's which is fantastic, I also ordered the thick cut bacon , but I did not like it, too fatty and smelled of strong pork ( almost farm like pig) yes I know it's baconBut I never smelled it this strong and pungent . Not worth it for me. But everything else looks amazing ! Coffee was awesome as well . Highly recommend place ! Hope to be back one day !

This place is awesome, food was delicious, service was good. The line moved pretty fast even though it was long. The Georgian cheese boat is a must, the bread itself was amazing. Also, best hash browns I’ve ever had. Place is a bit expensive but hey, it’s definitely worth it, believe this place has 2 Michelin stars. Decor was funky and interesting, don’t sit at the window though because everyone who’s in line will look at your food and you’ll get awkward eye contacts.

J A — Google review

Wow. From the atmosphere to the food, this place receives all the stars. The soufflé pancakes were so fluffy it was like biting into a cloud- and it was paired with fresh, tart berries and whip cream that added a subtle sweetness that didn’t take away from the pancake. Definitely the star of the show. We also had the morning glory fried rice- a savory mix of pork belly, broccolini, scallions and a sunny side egg. Delicious. The atmosphere was so fun, from the giant eyeball peering at everyone overhead, to the cute overall uniformed servers and retro pink decor. Loved this place. Just be sure to make reservations and find somewhere to relax during your wait because there WILL be a wait

Lindsey W — Google review

First of all, be prepared to wait. And wait. The line just to put your name on the wait list is long. Once I got to the front of that line, I did get seated right away because I was there on my own - but if you're wanting to go there with a bigger group, I'd suggest getting there ultra early. The atmosphere was amazing, and the servers were really friendly. That day was "crazy hair day," so they were all wearing wigs or had wacky hair styles. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs and each other, which bled over into good customer service. I got the famous souffle pancakes, which came very quickly. They were really good, and I couldn't finish them both. The food was REALLY expensive - between that and the wait time, that's why I knocked off a star. If you don't mind spending the money and don't have anywhere to be, though, definitely check it out!

Calla J — Google review

First off, I attended this establishment on a Thursday. The wait time was 35 minutes for 2 people to sit anywhere. Now on to what matters:When you walk in, the place looks very aesthetically pleasing. The music being played is modern and the atmosphere is lively. This alone is what draws people in. In my opinion, I consider this a smoking mirror technique. 4 starsThe wait staff are a hit or miss. The hostess was good and the initial bar staff was good. We then were taken care of by bar staff that could use a little more customer service skills. 2 stars. Finally, there was 1 lychee alcoholic drink ordered.($13) This drink had a lot of ice and was not strong at all. The food we ordered was a lobster eggs Benedict($27) and a chicken and waffles plate($17). The look of these items were stunning. They certainly have the presentation down. As for the taste, the garnish on the chicken and waffles is unnecessary. In fact, it ruins the taste and quality of the dish. The chicken was nice and moist and the waffle was cooked to expected quality. As for the lobster eggs Benedict, the egg was cooked well. In addition to that I liked the hollandaise sauce they added(this is an important piece of the dish). The lobster was not overwhelming and had a nice complimenting flavor in each bite. Amongst the two, my partner and I agree that the chicken and waffles was better. (3 Stars)My overall thoughts are:If you want to come here just for the clout, this is the place for you. If you care about the food and service, there are many other places in San Diego to visit. Choose wisely as you may be disappointed here.Overall 3 stars

Went on a Monday, wait time was about 1hr but we walked around little Italy and it went by very quickly! Place is very aesthetic and the whole ambiance is very instagram-friendly.The food was delicious: we ordered the fried rice with pork belly (very generous portion, did not finish it) and the salmon eggs Benedict. Drinks were okay. Service was extremely slow; they were considerably packed so I expected some delays- but I would imagine they would have this better managed considering how popular the place is.Overall I would return here again, hoping it was a “one off” and drinks and service are better next time.

Ely C — Google review

Wow, just found this place by chance when we stayed in Little Italy. Saw a huge line before opening and decided to see what the deal was, glad we did. If you're in a hurry for a quick bite find another spot as it took an 1 hour and 15 minutes to get a table. This was at opening on a weekend so I'm sure that's normal. But totally worth it. Great music playing, plenty of awesome adult beverages to choose from. And the food, the food was off the hook. Both dishes we ordered were delicious and well put together. Definitely making this a regular spot when in town.

Christopher G — Google review

Super fun spot. It’s loud so be prepared. But the food is amazing. I’ve been twice and the servers are wonderful given it’s so busy. Be prepared to wait a while as they don’t take reservations. But it’s worth it. The food is really good. There is a price for every budget. I love traditional AMERICAN breakfast and it was a delight. The guava jam is the best and you can put it on your hash browns. I will definitely go back. The only downside is that there are only 2 bathrooms and the wait can be very long. But they have some neat retro cockroach wallpaper that’s fun. The toilet seats are warm and the bathrooms are upscale. You gotta love little Italy. My friend ordered the Turkish eggs with Bone Marrow (extra) but all was delicious.

Nicole M — Google review

The full experience. Even the restroom is elegant. The lines can be long so waiting is not unusual. Visually excellent and the food is amazing. The best pancake that I have had in quite some time. The souffle pancakes are interesting. I had a chorizo scramble and a pancake and it was quite good. Very busy so the staff was not always easy to get but they tried hard and were very professional. A must do experience.

Allen P — Google review

It's a very cool looking place to see, the food was okay, the service was great at first but they really rush you to leave. We told the server and 2 waiters that we were celebrating my birthday but still were very much rushed to leave. We arrived at 7:30AM, 30 minutes before they opened on a Saturday morning, and there were already about 15-20 people in line. We waited, were offered the bar seating since we were only 2 people. Sat at the bar, the seats weren't the most comfortable, no back rest and no footrest in our area (and we're pretty tall and normally find the bar seats comfortable enough). We ordered the chicken and waffles and the fried rice. The chicken and waffles portion was small compared to other restaurants. The flavor was okay, but I wouldn't say it was the best. The fried rice was okay, but in our honest opinion, it was not the best or some of the best we've had.The coffee was not great, it didn't taste fresh, it and it was almost tasted like it was 1 day old . I normally drink 2 cups but could barely finish the one. I didn't drink it as fast because the flavor wasn't great, and I did attempt to since I needed the caffeine to. I tried to finish the rest of the cup of coffee, but we were rushed to leave. Also, they never offered drink refills, probably a tactic to get people to leave faster. After waiting 30 minutes in line to go in and another 30 minutes for the food, we were being asked if we needed 2 to-go boxes just half way into our meals, while half our food was still on the plate and we were still eating. We're not super slow eaters. It had just been about 10-15 mins. Maybe we were chatting too much and not eating fast enough? We were quickly brought the check along with the boxes, and even after paying as I was trying to chug the rest of our drinks we were once again asked if they had already processed our check for us or if we needed that, we explained that we had already paid and were just given a "well why are you still here" kind of look.We figured we could at least take our time eating while we caught up, and while we celebrated my birthday...Maybe we went on a bad day. We may try it again some other time in the future and order something different, maybe... I can not say that it is at the top of my list of places to return to very soon, though. I had heard great things about this place , and the decor was super cool to see, but I'm not sure it deserves all the hype or that it's worth waiting in line for.

Great breakfast when you are in San Diego. At first, I thought it was a gimmick, however the food sold me. We had the fried rice, lobster Benedict, soufflé pancake, bacon, and sausage. Everything was amazing! One tip, make sure to check out the bathroom. Opulent!

Sami D — Google review

This had to be one of the coolest experiences ever! This restaurant was amazing! The mix of indoor outdoor seating was phenomenal. The huge windows opened all the way up. The decor was unlike anything I have ever seen. The huge flower with the eye was everything! Bravo Morning Glory! I’ve not even touched on the food…wow just wow the food was delicious. We over ordered just to taste. The soufflé pancakes and khachapuri are a MUST eat! I took a bunch of pictures because seeing is believing. One last really cool tidbit was the heated toilet seat and the gorgeous sink in the bathroom. Even the bathroom was amazing! Go hungry!

Awesome restaurant here with tons of options on the menu. Just be prepared to wait for a bit but I promis it's worth it. The atmosphere is nice and open. If you want souffles they got it. I liked the american breakfast. Check it out and enjoy the menu artwork.

Justin H — Google review

You come here for the atmosphere and experience of the restaurant. Had such a fun meal with friends. Really enjoyed the vibe this place set to be able to catch up and have a good time. The iced coffee was incredibly weak and lacking (for multiple different coffee drinks). It looked heavily diluted. The drip coffee was good though. The waiter was very sweet and let us sub out the coffee for something else.Food dishes were overall good. Nothing out of this world but they held their own.We got to the restaurant 10 minutes before opening and the line was already several people deep. We were in the first round of tables. This place appears to always have a line.Overall really enjoyed this place. If you are going for the food alone, I don’t think the wait is worth it. If you are going for the full experience and are willing to wait an hour in line and that won’t rain on your parade, it’s worth it. Highly recommend getting a coffee from a cafe nearby to sip on while waiting!

Audrey V — Google review

Lived up to the hype. We got in line on a weekday right before they opened, so no line to deal with. The carbonara was hands down the best meal of the four we ordered, with the soufflé pancakes not terribly far behind (get them with the fruit). My teenagers had the baked french toast and pancakes, and they said they were just okay, nothing special.

Amanda C — Google review

The atmosphere is super unique! Definitely a must while in San Diego! I suggest going early to get your name on the wait list. The food was good. The staff was great. The bathrooms are super fancy!

Lyndsey A — Google review

The chicken in the chicken and waffles was very dry. The sausage gravy helped, but the gravy itself was nothing to write home about. The chilaquiles were basically just chips with a little bit of sauce that was not overly impressive. Maybe it was an off day for them, but we were pretty disappointed after seeing the great reviews. Server was very nice though(:

Emily U — Google review

Fantastic breakfast! Service was fast even though they were quite busy. I arrived as they were just opening and there was already a line of guests waiting to be seated. I did not have to wait to be seated but I can imagine that there may be a wait during certain hours. Food was fantastic! Coffee was great; it seemed to be made in small batches and poured immediately after brewing. The restaurant had a cart (pictured) which allowed you to get as much or as little from the cart as you would like and they just add it to your bill! Overall a great experience!

THIS PLACE IS A MUST VISIT!!!! This place is a MUST for breakfast if you are in San Diego! Don’t get intimidated by the long line or the wait time. They will get you in and the food, service, music and the vibe is so worth it! Those pancakes are huge but the flavor and the crispy edges perfect. The French toast- excellent. Those hash browns are magical. Thick cut bacon, sausage, eggs good. The breakfast carbonara - perfectly executed. Go for breakfast and you’re welcome!

Is it worth the wait? -100%Does not matter when you come, there will be a line up. Put your name down and then go do some site seeing and wait till they call you.The food is amazing! The service is very good, the staff are super friendly and helpful in making selection on the menu. There are so many things to try, that you might have to make a second or even a third trip to try the full menu. We go here at about 830am and there was a 45 min wait for us to be seated. This was a great experience over all. The restaurant has an old dinner vibe with a new twist. If you end up going here you will have an amazing time.

Wait time to be seated was about 1 hour after making reservations.

We really enjoyed our experience here at the Morning Glory in downtown San Diego. The food was freshly made! We had freshly squeezed orange juice and very tasty iced lattes. We got some scrambled eggs, an order of flapjacks, and their fried chicken and waffle entree. It was very high quality and the quantity was good for how expensive it was. We left satisfied and full. The only downside is the wait. So if you want to come here, make sure to arrive early with your party because they do not take reservations!!!

Courtney B — Google review

We came here seeing a very long line n were told the wait is worth n food is fantastic. However, after waiting on line for about 20 min to put the name down and further waiting for 1.5 hours, we were disappointed. The food is nothing special that is worth the wait. On top, since it's super crowded, there's not enough staff to serve immediately. They forgot one of our orders until reminded a few times. Some drinks were nice. In addition to this, they only have 2 restrooms combined and one of them was out of order. So had to wait about 15-20 min to use the restroom.Even if there was no wait, I'd not go again. It's definitely not worth with 1.5 hour wait.

Excellent place for brunch! The Eggs Benedict, Bria Taco’s and German Pancakes were amazing! The boozy coffees were so good and hit the spot in a cool morning. The service was fantastic! Our waiter went over and beyond! I asked him for suggestions to other restaurants we could try while in San Diego. He texted his wife and gave us some excellent suggestions! The atmosphere is very hip and fun! Absolutely love the eyeball! Loved the coffee mugs! We tried to order them online but they were sold out. I have to mention the bathroom because it has to be included in my review! First the seat of the toilet is heated! lol! The bathroom is covered in mirrors it was a statement in its self! Couldn’t not take pictures!!! We went on a Monday morning at 8:30 wait was about 5 minutes, but the line grew shortly after that!

Such a cool place with unique menu!Expect to wait even if arrive early in morning for brunch. Spritz is refreshing. Pancakes super fluffy (more dense than expected)- Tasted great! Had sausage too. So many ideas of things to try. Amazing view and fun style of restaurant

Carol M — Google review

I recommend coming very early or very late because the line to even get on the wait list is long. Ended up waiting about an hour and a half to get seated. They are known for the fluffy Japanese pancakes which I will have to try next time. My friend got it themselves and did say they were good. My chicken and waffles were still delicious but the wait was definitely a downer. Waiting for the restroom you have form another long line so if you plan to come expect 4-5 hours of your time to be spent here.

Lizbeth F — Google review

Great serviceGreat atmosphereCute aestheticAmazing food and drinksThe orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious. Even the music they play is great. It was really busy but we were still seated in less than 20min. We tried the German pancake with berries, a Khachapuri with bacon and jalapenos, a noodle dish with pork belly and egg that was so delicious. And their house hot sauces were both delicious. Loved everything about this place.

Stylish restaurant that has a partial open air concept! Everything from the decorations to the names of the items on the menu are unique. The chicken and waffles were some of the best I have ever tried. HIGHLY recommend! Although the restaurant was jam packed, the service was speedy and the staff were super friendly. They don’t take reservations and the wait gets long really early in the morning, but I promise you it is worth it!

Morning Glory is well worth the wait! We waited about 10-15 mins to put our names on the list and 1 hr & 30 mins to be seated. We got there around 10am on a Saturday. The service: 10/10Ambiance: 15/10They play great music. The decor is beautiful.Food: 15/10The soufflé pancakes are a must to share. Must sure to add berries. Sometimes items are hyped up too much & these definitely are not. They are amazing!!Breakfast Carbonara is delicious. Definitely another must order.Fried chicken & waffles added sausage gravy was pretty good too but definitely could have passed on it. If you love chicken & waffles, must sure to order the gravy. The egg salad sandwich was delicious. Very light & delicate but a delicious appetizer. This place is a must when visiting San Diego!!

Jacquelyn F — Google review

Nothing special about this place and definitely not worth the hype (or the long waiting in line). We ordered the soufflé pancake, Turkish eggs and lobster omelette. The pancake was doughy, the eggs were nice and the lobster omelette portion size was not worth the $$.They have a breakfast cart going around the restaurant (one man carrying it around) which got to us while paying our bill (too late). The waitress serving our table was not very attentive and hardly stopped by to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. They do have a good lavender latte!

This gem of a restaurant is a family favorite. The atmosphere is colorful, and welcoming. The food is delicious, and has a wide selection of breakfast dishes to fit any appetite. The service is friendly, quick, and always with a smile. The only area of improvement is needed in the bathrooms. There are only two, and the line is long.Beyond that, take your friends, family of all ages, and enjoy a beautiful dining experience

You have to create a reservation as early as you can arrive there. Preferably between the hours of 9-10 am. They do not offer any online reservation system, you must make a reservation in person. Upon arrival, you must go upstairs and provide your name and phone number. They will send you a text message with a number in their virtual queue provided by Yelp. Once your reservation is ready, they will text you and you must return to the restaurant, inform them you received a notification, then you will be seated (seats are available on a size of party basis). I was seated at the bar, with my girlfriend. The food is very pleasant and aesthetic, as is the location. The soufflé pancakes are very good. The cast iron skillet pancakes are good, but they are very sweet, and taste as if you’re eating a muffin. The mashed potatoes have an interesting texture to it. They’re described to be hash browns that are mixed together and cooked to golden brown. The house gravy is a little thicker in texture, I would rate it 5/10. It would probably be good to eat without the gravy or with ketchup instead.

Absolutely the best gluten free pancakes. So chewy! You will not believe they are not wheat. You will have an urge to ask the waiter if they are sure the pancakes are gluten free. Go ahead. They are also allergy friendly and the staff is knowledgable about cross contamination.Fantastic experience and really made my day.Grab a coat on a windy day it gets very cold up there. Long wait so plan ahead.

The food and ambiance were excellent, but the service could use some improvement. We received our juices at the end of our meal, rather than at the start. Additionally, we had specifically requested no sesame, as one member of our party has an allergy, but we still found sesame seeds in the grain bowl.

I have to say the food is good, but nothing to die for. This is a tourist spot. I will say staff seem very positive. Going here on a weekday, will not mean you won’t wait, you will wait. Our server Jacob greeted us promptly and brought our drinks. However, food can take a bit to arrive and I’m sure it’s because it’s super busy. Our food was a bit on the crispier side. The interior decor is very unique and eclectic. Since the windows are open a pigeon snuck in, it was entertaining to watch the pigeon circle around avoiding the crowds.

Service: 4/5Food: 3.5/5Ambiance: 2/5I will start off saying that I don't understand why a reservation system online doesn't exist. Waiting over an hour is just not worth it to me for any restaurant. My sister waited almost 3 hours to get us in here from her waiting in line then waiting once she got her name on the list. To me, if I was told the wait was more than 45 mins I would've left. But she's been wanting to take me here for months.Once we finally were able to be seated it was another 15 min wait for our table to be cleared. And then we were seated in a booth closer to the bathroom facing the kitchen. While the decor is fun the ambiance is just alright. The music is bumping and with the sound of everyone talking it's pretty loud; this isn't a place to bring a group to for a nice easy going brunch. You're kind of needing to speak up and almost yell to talk.Menu is honestly kind of hard to read it took me a longer than usual to really focus and read everything with all the designs going on.We were told it would be a 20 min wait for the German pancake which was fine by us. What's funny is the 3rd intricate dishes came out all together and it took another 10 minutes after they were served for my very simple American breakfast to finally come out.I've never seen a hash brown cooked like mine. I thought it was spam at first glance. It was still soft inside and buttery but a lot more crispy than traditional.I also asked our server for salt, pepper, and hot sauce to which she then went and talked to her co worker while cleaning silverware for almost 10 minutes and then came over with the items but by then I was almost done with my meal. Pretty strange.I just don't really understand the popularity of this restaurant. To me it's very overhyped and just not worth the wait. I understand lots of aesthetically motivated people enjoy this place and that's great! They're obviously very successful due to the long waits. However, While the meal was priced lower than I expected I know plenty of other brunch locations with better service, little to no wait, and much better tasting than this. Glad to finally get to try it but also very glad to now avoid this place for the future.
